Lots of sewing

I have been sewing alot of quilt tops lately to use up my stash that has gotten out of control. I want new fabric but I need to use up some of what I have to make room to hide store new fabric. Was out of  batting so I could only do tops for the last month or so.

Almost finished this one, stitched the binding to the front last night and will throw a movie on and finish binding the back tonight (hopefully) This is for my neighbors best friends little girls second birthday and will be shipped of this weekend.

my neighbors little girl turns one this month and she will be getting one in the fushias and golds (left over scraps from my daughters that she loved so much. This is my daughters all finished up and on the bed with matching pillow case and throw cushion. My neighbors girls quilt will be a strip quilt like her friends.

My cousin is having a baby in august. She does not want to find the sex of the baby out and has decided to do the nursery in apple green and chocolate brown. I had a charm pack of the lily and will with all the colors so I picked out the greens and bought two fat quarters to make this top:

Now I need a boy and a girl baby to use up the rest of that charm pack.

I love the fish and I was going to give it to the troll upstairs neighbor for their new baby.....but more on that under some other alias. But I do love the fishies and also have plenty more of the fabric to make a matching one in a different colorway, need more babies in my life.
Thisone was just for fun reminds me of my bedroom as a child.

And this I want as my beach blanket for the summer, saw someone add ties to a quilt to make a beach roll, great idea, we all need these now, more quilts.
Did some other sewing beside quilts even:

I have done six of the sprocket pillows so far from this tutorial
http://www.cluckclucksew.com/search/label/pillows and I even made my first ever template and made a huge sprocket pillow about 36" round. They are fun and easy to make.

Also started a couple of string blocks using this tutorial, I am going to do each block in a different rainbow color.
film in the fridge string block tutorial

This is for a friends couch:

This will be for my bed:

The binding has been attached to the front of this one it just has to be bound... my daughter keeps sleeping with it so it never gets done. It is backed in a wonderfully soft yellow minkie chenille type fabric.

This one she wants as well, we will see because I am also making her another mendocino one in a different colorway.

I also whipped this one up using my little scrap of elephants from umbrella prints...must get more of these little cuties.

There a couple more tops that I have not taken pictures of yet. But I even finished the hand binding on my first quilt that I made that sat for 6 months all ready for binding, but i was too scared because I had never done any hand binding before, but I did this before attempting my daughtes huge double bed size quilt:
Love this fabric, it is cherish nature by moda, not my usual colors or style but i looked great for easter and is still on the couch until I make us a new one.

My friend also found this cute charm pack at a local thrift store for $0.75, she just wanted one charm out of it and I had a few FQ that were boyish so I made up this quilt top. I do not know of anyone with a little boy and this is definitely a masculine and bright quilt top. So if anyone leaves a comment I will choose someone at the end of the month to send this to them to finish up and give it away or keep it:)

And heres hoping for sunshine! found this awesome pic of my daughter from a year or two ago, so jealous of the tan (and the awesome 3d glasses)

  1. W-O-W!!! This is amazing, you are a quilting machine!! I came over from OCD, had to take a peek at your Mendocino quilts- so pretty! I love the FFA2 ones as well, I have a stack of that I am planning to use for my middle daughter's birthday quilt. Anyways, you are SO sweet to offer me some of your scraps! That is so very kind. I couldn't email you directly due to your blogger settings, so I thought I would leave a message here to get in touch. I would love to send you something in return, fabric or something made! Anyways, can you email me so we can discuss? You will find me at obsessivecraftingdisorder@yahoo.ca.

  3. Beautiful quilts! I'm a new sewist (doing clothes and house stuff, but not yet quilting) too and blogging about it. Both are addictive! Thanks for having stopped by my giveaway today.
